When I got home from overseas not long ago, I was eager to see what news I had missed about our understanding of dyslexia and how we can support young people through their learning differences. One of the pieces that stood out the most in my mind was a Wall Street Journal article written by Linda Himelstein this past summer that discussed the experiences of one young boy who had tremendous difficulty reading and writing in English, his native language, but excelled when asked to do the same tasks in the introductory Japanese class he was required to take after transferring schools.
